Cook Easy Clean Easy

Autumn is the time when we start thinking about our Christmas dinner and cooking up lots of lovely treats but before that, we ought to think about cleaning our ovens. There are lots of oven interior types that require different methods of cleaning and all the staff at JB Postle can help you with their top tips.
The most important of oven maintenance tips generally relate to cleanliness and baked on grease and food debris. The internal cavity is the area most of us put off cleaning, by just shutting the door and hoping it will go away! If you have a pyrolytic clean oven which heats up to a high temperature and burns all of this off, then you can celebrate not having to endure this task using a monthly programme to do the job for you. If you have catalytic liners in your oven, then you can just heat the oven up to temperature at the end of your cooking time, and the liners will burn the grease off. Enamel liners, however, require a little bit more elbow grease.
Top Tips:
- Switch off your oven at the mains and lay out newspaper on the floor to catch any debris.
- Use a dry brush to get rid of caked-on food and sweep them onto the newspaper.
- Spray the interior of the oven with your chosen cleaning product. Avoid spraying the fan or the gas supply elements and pilot light if it’s a gas oven. Leave the product on for the specified time.
- If you’re using a baking soda and vinegar paste, leave it on overnight, as it will need longer to work.
- Finally, wipe or sweep away the cleaning product and debris. Make sure you wear rubber gloves and don't let the products touch your skin.
If you have a double oven, or your main oven includes a grill, look out for the option of a folding grill. This means you can move the grill heating element aside and clean behind it.
